If you’re looking for my ‘What has he done?’ credentials, here is my CV.

The names and dates on that CV tell you where I have worked, and how long I stayed there. They can’t begin to tell you who I am, what I did, or what I learned.

When I started Merryck & Co, from a standing start, in 1997, I had 10 years of hands-on experience in the global financial sector and 10 years building up two businesses in the UK leisure industry, successfully selling one and floating the other on AIM. During those 10 years, I climbed the corporate ladder into senior management positions. I gave red, yellow and green lights to funding applications for business plans from numerous entrepreneurs and corporations. I also learned all about being an entrepreneur, raising money, building a business, a team, selling, floating, acquiring, brand building, marketing and selling, finance and every other aspect of running a rapidly growing business.

The names and dates don’t convey how, after founding Merryck & Co., I built it into one of the, ’Top UK companies of the future’, as judged by the independent Corporate Research Foundation, or that leaders of Fortune 500 and FTSE 250 businesses were served by myself and the 35 mentors in my employ from offices in the UK, the USA, Europe and Australia.

My CV also doesn’t tell you that the reason I chose to sell that business in 2010 was to focus on my next step, to spend more time becoming the best mentor I can be. That involves mentoring just 10 clients at any one time. Ten of the top people, from ten completely diverse cultures, genres, geo-political realities, socio-political realities, economic sectors, genders, nationalities and creeds.

That traditional CV doesn’t tell you how the experiences I’ve gained in the last 50+ years – coupled with my relentless drive to excel at my chosen craft of mentoring – help my clients to become the best versions of themselves. However, these gaps in my CV are fleshed out by my personal reflections on my career to date, along with my clients’ experiences, as described in their testimonials.
