With almost 30 years of hands-on, high-level global senior corporate, entrepreneurial and venture capital experience, David has grown Merryck & Co. from a standing start in January 1997 to what the independent Corporate Research Foundation recently defined as one of the “Top UK Companies of the Future” and was also awarded the prestigious BT Vision 100 award and is now serving Leaders of Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 businesses from offices in New York, London, Paris and Sydney.

During his eclectic career David (or “DCMC” as he is usually referred to as) has worked in venture capital in the USA, both on the East & West coasts, the Middle East, the Far East and throughout Europe. After leaving Financial Services in 1988, David has started and built two other successful businesses, one of which he sold (Family Golf) to a trade buyer, the other (ClubPartners International plc) floated on the London Stock Exchange (AIM). During his career, David has also been involved either as a principal or advisor on the sale, merger or purchase of over 30 businesses.
David is very open that he has also overcome a few failures and near disasters during his life and he believes strongly that it is mostly these experiences and the lessons learned from them that have shaped him more than any success to become a better mentor, parent and person. His greatest personal challenge and at the same time his greatest joy has been as a single parent with two young children since 1995.
David established Merryck & Co. to make a difference in the lives of his family, his colleagues and his Clients and to make a difference in the world.
David’s personal client list includes: Global President, Barclays Capital; Managing Director, Scottish Courage; CEO, HSBC Private Bank; CEO, Smith & Nephew division; CEO, IFF division; Head of EMEA, Dell; CEO, Glotel; CEO, Go airline as well as individual CEOs from Reuters, Lloyds TSB, Virgin, PWC, Morgan Crucible, LogicaCMG, Whitbread and many private companies.
David has yet to write a book but has threatened to do so before he reaches his 50th birthday! His early start as an amusing, inspiring, open, honest, interesting and thought provoking public speaker is now under way.
He is a frequent and enthusiastic 16 handicap golfer, a poet, a philosopher, a hopeful romantic, a decent cook and a dedicated dad.
With his marriage to Kathryn in 2007 David has added a new chapter to his life (and several to his book!) as Rosie, Tom and he welcome a new wife/step mother onboard as well as a new stepdaughter/sister – Tiggy. And who said life begins at 40?
